Presentation
physical inactivityIt is considered one of the main determinants of school obesity and is considered the fourth risk factor for mortality worldwide. Despite this, a high percentage of schoolchildren do not meet the physical activity recommendations indicated by the World Health Organization for these ages. In addition, it can be observed how within the school day, schoolchildren spend most of their time in sedentary behaviors, without reaching the minimum amount of physical activity recommended by the American Heart Association for the school day.
In this context, it is necessary the promotion of physical activity from educational Schoolar. The educational centers meet essential characteristics for this task, since schoolchildren necessarily spend a high percentage of their waking hours in educational centers, during a critical stage for the acquisition and consolidation of life habits. Likewise, the educational centers have professionals with university training and easy access to families and the community. The educational legislation in force also includes the need to promote physical activity from educational centers.
With the purpose of designing a set of strategies and resources that make it easier for the educational community to promote active and healthy lifestyles, the project arose Erasmus+EUMOVE. This symposium arises from this European project, whose main goalis that experts in the field can share practical experiences to promote physical activity from educational centers. This symposium aims to be a means for different professionals in the educational field to share and extract valuable information for its application in a real context.
The event will be held on June 10, 2023 at the Faculty of Sports Sciences in Cáceres and is organized by researchers from the EUMOVE consortium, particularly from the University of Extremadura, the University of Cádiz and the University of Castilla La-Mancha.
